Levin Management Brings Wingstop to Union City Plaza in Union City, N.J.
Aviation-Themed Restaurant Chain Inks 1,400-SF Lease
UNION CITY, N.J., June 29, 2021 – Fast-casual, aviation-themed chicken restaurant Wingstop is coming to Union City Plaza in Union City, announced Levin Management Corporation (LMC), the retail property’s exclusive leasing and managing agent. The Dallas, Texas-based franchise inked a 1,400-square-foot lease, arranged by LMC’s Senior Leasing Representative Vanessa Fernandez-Kelty.
Wingstop operates and franchises approximately 1,500 restaurants worldwide. The chain offers classic wings, boneless wings and tenders – all cooked to order – and hand-sauced-and-tossed in a choice of 11 distinctive flavors. Menus also feature sides including fresh-cut, seasoned fries and freshly made ranch and bleu cheese dips.
“Fast-casual chains continue to perform well, and we are excited to bring a global restaurant brand like Wingstop to Union City Plaza,” said Fernandez-Kelty. “This brand has a strong following and will benefit from the property’s excellent demographics and strong daily traffic, as well as its proximity to Union City High School. Wingstop is a great fit for this neighborhood.”
The location’s franchisees, Vishal and Kartik Patel, are experienced business operators that plan to continue growing the brand in the New York/New Jersey marketplace. In 2014, they opened the first Garden State Wingstop franchise on Elmora Avenue in Elizabeth. They also operate at Capitol Plaza in Ewing, another LMC leased and managed property.
“Wingstop serves fresh food made with quality ingredients, which sets it apart from other fast-casual brands,” said Vishal Patel. “Our ranch dressing is made in-house daily, our fries are cut every morning from Idaho potatoes, and our chicken goes straight from delivery right into our friers. Situated at the signalized intersection of JFK Boulevard and 21st Street, Union City Plaza’s tenants also include Dollar General and Union City Speedwash. The 18,000-square-foot center supports a population of more than 83,000 people within a one-mile radius, and more than 25,000 vehicles per day pass the property.
The transaction highlights LMC’s strong relationships with prominent national brands and represents its portfolio’s third Wingstop location. In addition to the Patel’s 2019 lease at Capitol Plaza, LMC also previously arranged a 1,650-square-foot commitment with another Wingstop franchisee at Morrell Plaza in Philadelphia.
