Levin Arranges 16,000-Square-Foot Lease with Filipino Grocer in Clifton, N.J.

FilStop to Expand Garden State Presence with New Flagship Store at Clifton Plaza

CLIFTON, N.J., Aug. 10, 2018 – Filipino grocer FilStop – which established its Garden State presence more than 40 years ago – has leased 16,000 square feet and will open a second, flagship store at Clifton Plaza in Clifton. The announcement was made by Levin Management Corporation (LMC), exclusive leasing and managing agent for the 95,000-square-foot Passaic County shopping center.

LMC Leasing Representative Vanessa Fernandez arranged the long-term lease. Anthony and Eugene Rivera of Pure Properties represented the tenant. “The addition of FilStop is significant both for Clifton Plaza and the community at large,” said Fernandez. “This grocer has experienced exponential growth in recent years and serves a niche customer base all along the East Coast. FilStop will drive additional consumer traffic to benefit its co-tenants at Clifton Plaza while providing a larger and centrally located store for the brand’s loyal shoppers.”

FilStop is a traditional retail and online purveyor of authentic Filipino food, serving customers worldwide from its original Jersey City store. Shoppers can choose from a wide variety of steamed, hot food to-go, as well as hundreds of grocery items ranging from rice, noodles, spices and soups to snacks and drinks, as well as frozen versions of the store’s best-sellers.

Well-located on Route 46/Van Houten Avenue in a highly visible location, Clifton Plaza is anchored by a Big Lots and Blink Fitness, and features a strong mix of retail, restaurant and service tenants. Tenants include Dollar Tree, Dunkin Donuts, GameStop, Verizon Wireless and Sally Beauty Supply, among others. The center serves a growing residential population of more than 628,000 people within a five-mile radius and a daytime population of 248,900. The daily traffic count passing the property on Route 46 exceeds 73,000 vehicles.

Two retail spaces – measuring 1,530 square feet and 1,950 square feet – remain available at Clifton Plaza.

For more than 65 years, LMC has served as a trusted single-source commercial real estate services provider for institutional and private owners. The firm today maintains a diversified, retail-focused portfolio of approximately 100 properties totaling 14 million square feet in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic states, offering leasing, property management, financial management and reporting, construction and development, lease administration, marketing services, and acquisition and disposition consulting services. LMC’s capabilities continue to evolve with new technologies, efficiencies and sustainability-focused initiatives to serve a new generation of properties, investors and tenants.
