Northern Lights Hydroponics Now Open at Liberty Center I in Erie, Pa.

Hydroponic Equipment & Supplies Retailer Inks 1,400-SF Lease at Levin-Managed Shopping Center

ERIE, Pa., Sept. 9, 2020 – Specialty hydroponic and indoor gardening supply store Northern Lights Hydroponics, LLC is now open at Liberty Center I in Erie. The niche retailer, which relocated from Ripley, N.Y., occupies 1,400 square feet at the 230,000-square-foot shopping center, which is exclusively leased and managed by Levin Management Corporation (LMC).

Sherry Bauer, broker/owner of SBRE - Sherry Bauer Real Estate Services, arranged the transaction as LMC’s local leasing representative.

Hydroponics is a method of growing plants without soil by providing all necessary nutrients in the plants’ water supply, according to Kimberly Daugherty, owner of Northern Lights Hydroponics. The store carries a wide range of nutrients for consumers’ plant-growing needs, as well as indoor lighting, bulbs, growing media/soil, hydroponic systems and more.

“We are a unique business and, as such, attract customers from a wide geographic area,” Daugherty said. “Relocating to Liberty Center I allows us to centralize our operations to better serve customers. Because the hydroponic method can be done indoors, it is a great option for those that want to garden year-round and is particularly appealing to health-conscious individuals interested in growing their own organic fresh vegetables, fruit and herbs. We are here to educate customers and provide everything they need to start and maintain their soil-less garden.”

According to Bauer, Northern Lights’ move to Liberty Center I comes at an opportune moment. “With many people spending more time at home during the pandemic, there has never been a better time to be a gardener,” she said. “Northern Lights Hydroponics’ products and expertise are wonderful resources for novices to the hydroponic gardening medium as well as experienced growers. This distinctive retailer both broadens the center’s appeal and complements the existing tenant mix, particularly Harbor Freight Tools.”

Centrally located at the intersection of Liberty and W. 38th Streets just west of Peach Street, Liberty Center I is anchored by supermarket chain Tops Friendly Markets. In addition to Harbor Freight Tools, the center includes Dollar Tree, Stumpy’s Hatchet House, Fred’s Furniture, Rent-A-Center, PA Wine & Spirits, PNC Bank and Dickey’s Barbecue Pit, among others. These businesses serve a growing residential population of more than 103,000 people within a three-mile radius.

Retail availabilities at Liberty Center I range from 2,200 square feet to 12,000 square feet.
